Noonday Notes

Issue No. 22

October 31st 2025

I’ve always found that when I’m feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stressed out, the best way through it is to get out of my head and be of service to others. It’s in that movement toward others that the darkness starts to lift.

Isaiah 58 is the chapter for Noonday Farms’ origin story. It’s the chapter that first inspired the name. Specifically verse 10, “shall your light rise in the darkness, and your gloom be as the noonday.” But it’s just before this verse that gives that light its meaning.

Isaiah asks of us, in fact, demands from us, “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?” (Isaiah 58:6–7, NIV)

It’s a vision of faith that is not passive but active. One that meets need with presence, and turns compassion into action.

That vision feels especially alive right now. When we come together as neighbors, churches, and local growers, we live out that call. We lift the yoke from one another’s shoulders and let light break forth in the process. That’s better than a 2am walk off homerun, just saying.

This weekend we’re preparing to host a free farmers market at a nearby apartment community that we already deliver produce to. Residents will be able to access fresh produce donated by local growers and pantry staples collected by our partners at the Sunset Ridge Collective and Farmers Market. It’s a small but powerful glimpse of what’s possible when generosity and collaboration take root.

At Noonday Farms the mission is about more than growing food. It’s about cultivating connection. Because when you know your neighbor, you can feed your neighbor. And together, we can build something resilient, relational, and radiant right here in our own backyard. Let’s gooooooo!!
