Our Story

Noonday Farms was born out of a desire to serve those who often go unnoticed—the homebound, the food-insecure, and those in need of human connection. We are starting out as a small garden in a front yard and we hope to grow into a community-driven effort to bring fresh food, friendship, and acts of service to those who need it most.

I’ve always believed in the power of service, a value my parents instilled in me through their years of compassion, service, and philanthropy. Growing up, I’d deliver meals with my mom as part of our town’s version of Meals on Wheels. Those moments showed me the joy of serving others and taught me that true change happens not just through ideas but through action—acts of service, meals on the table, and kindness shared between neighbors.

A Journey of Purpose

My path to Noonday Farms wasn’t straightforward, but I’ve come to believe God works in funny and unexpected ways. With a B.A. from Hampshire College and an M.A. in Community Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University, I built a career focused on healing—both people and the land. I’ve worked with children in foster care, people experiencing homelessness, survivors of abuse and trauma, trafficking, and addiction, and at every step, I saw how food insecurity compounded their struggles. These experiences taught me that food is not just about sustenance—it’s a way to nourish physical and emotional needs. In 2023, I became a believer in Jesus Christ, and this project is a manifestation of my desire to live out His teachings. I want to meet people where they are, just as He would, providing nourishment, connection, and care.

The Seeds of a Farm

From 2008 through 2012, I co-founded and managed a 25-acre community-supported farm (Common Thread Community Farm) in Central New York. Those years taught me the skills of production farming and showed me how growing food can be a transformative act of love and justice. Fast forward to the summer of 2024, while delivering meals with Meals on Wheels in San Antonio, I remembered how much I cherished nourishing others and spending time with those I served. Yet, I noticed a gap: while Meals on Wheels provides home-delivered hot meals and the San Antonio Food Bank grows and distributes fresh produce at sites, no program combines fresh produce with home delivery AND acts of service and companionship. That realization planted the seed for Noonday Farms.

Noonday Farms: A Calling to Serve

Noonday Farms is my response to the need I see in our community. The mission is simple but powerful:

  • Grow fresh, nutritious food and deliver it directly to homebound and food-insecure individuals.

  • Cultivate human connection through acts of service, ensuring that every delivery is more than just food—it’s a moment of care, a friendly conversation, and a reminder that no one is forgotten.

  • Empower volunteers, families, and congregations to grow produce and partner with us in this mission, fostering community-driven solutions.

  • Practice stewardship by using sustainable farming techniques, minimizing waste through gleaning, and collaborating with local farms and food banks.

Noonday Farms isn’t just about agriculture. It’s about restoring hope, one harvest and one relationship at a time. For me, it’s the fulfillment of a lifelong calling to use food as a way to love and serve others—body, mind, and soul.  Right here on a little corner in Terrell Heights!

This next chapter at Noonday is powered by Climate Ready Neighborhoods—an initiative of the Impact Guild in partnership with the City of San Antonio’s Office of Sustainability. This program supports grassroots projects that build resilience, reduce climate impact, and care for vulnerable neighbors.

By planting a second Noonday site at Grace Northridge Anglican Church, we’re doing more than growing food—we’re growing neighborhood-based climate solutions. Local food means fewer miles traveled, deeper relationships, and stronger communities ready to face what’s next.

We’re honored to be part of this movement.
